Delay in unlocking your Pixel 2 XL

Anyone experiencing a delay when you unlock your phone using power button or finger print?
I just noticed it after a minor 8.1 Oreo update that happened recently.
Just wanted to know if this is common for everyone?

I've read reports of it happening with some XLs (just the XL - I've not seen any reports for the regular Pixel 2, and my one of those definitely doesn't have that).

Do you have the Ambient Display set to Always On?

I've read that the June security patch altered the behavior of Always On to eliminate the strange flashes that were observed when locking/unlocking some Pixel 2 XLs. A side-effect is that the screen now takes longer to wake from a fully-off state. If you've got AOD disabled, try turning it back on to see if unlocking becomes more responsive.

Yes that was the only solution I found so far. Turning on Always on Display makes it easier to log in fast. However this would not be of much help for those who have concerns on saving their battery.

AOD barely uses any battery at all. I don't think I've ever seen it account for more than 1% of the usage on my Pixel 2.
