I use only Gmail app for email. i was browsing through my apps running and my stock mail app is using 10mb but i dnt use it. before i deleteit to free up room, anyone know if it'll delete my gmail inbox?

First, 10mb is not that much space. Second, you can only remove it if you are rooted. Third, no, it will not affect your Gmail app.

I meant force stop and clear data.

No maybe its not but i like freeing up memory. For other ttthings :)

Thanks tho

It won't affect your phone at all. Even if you uninstall it. I deleted it using root explorer. Along with the Gmail.apk app, and I'm using K-9 now. Just my 2 cents.

I too only use Gmail (because I found the standard HTC mail app used a LOT of GPRS data) and I regularly clear the Mail app's data - it has no effect on Gmail. The only thing I do notice is that the Mail app is soon back up to just over 1MB data usage, even though I have no accounts set up in it any more! It doesn't get any higher than that, but it is annoying.

Why was it using 10 MB if you aren't even using it? You must have had an account setup at some point.
