Help Deleted App icon reappearing, creating new blank pages

My razr creates a series of blank pages and a previously deleted app icon will reappear on the one of the blank pages in the that is automatically created. I do not understand why this is occurring. Very odd issue... When I try and open the app, there is an error message that states that the app does not exist. Anyone else having this issue?

Welcome to Android Forums.

What is the application that is causing the issue? You could try clearing the data it has cached. You could also try clearing the cache partition.

If you are running Jelly Bean you could try running in Safe Mode (disabling all the apps you added without uninstalling them) and if the problem stops it is caused by an app that you added.

Not really. Safe Mode can really help. It is one of the few improvements that came in with 4.1. You run in Safe Mode and if you don;t have the problem then it's a bad app. You then have to either subtract those that you think are bad until it stops or to a Factory Data Reset and slowly add apps back until the problems starts again.

If you upgraded form ICS to JB and did not do a Factory Data Reset you might now be seeing a problem from that omission.

gotta go with Thom on this one. clear the cache partition and/or safe mode.

safe mode: hold the power key to get the power menu. hold power off until you get the "Reboot into safe mode" prompt. it doesn't delete anything- it just disables 3rd party apps until the next restart.

you may also want to check airpush detector, or something like that, to see if it's being installed as part of another app's programming. I'd also recommend running a good anitivirus app. lookout has a huge following. I use it for the lock cam and location services (in addition to google's device manager).

Mine is doing the same thing; booting into safe mode made no difference. It seems to have started doing this after the last OTA update to 9.18.94 system version. I can delete the (two always) home screen pages it creates, but they come back on every reboot. The first additional page is always a blank page and the second one always has a ghost of an icon of an app I used to have, but deleted. (Edit: I just did have one instance of an active app icon appearing on the second new page)

New 12/23/13: Whatever it was, it stopped doing it on its own around this date.
