Deleted app not really deleted

I recently replaced my old phone with a Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017). I upgraded the OS to Android 7.0. Among the first apps I installed was Alarmy. I set a couple of alarms to make sure I didn't sleep in on the days when I have to start work early. I set weekly alarms for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8am. Then my schedule changed and I didn't need the Thursday alarm. I got into Alarmy and cancelled the Thursday alarm. Much to my surprise, the Thursday alarm rang anyway the next time Thursday rolled around. I went back into Alarmy and confirmed that there was no alarm set for Thursday. Thinking the program must be faulty, I deleted Alarmy entirely. Despite that, *both* the Tuesday and Thursday alarms STILL GO OFF. I know it is Alarmy that is starting these alarms because it has a very distinctive default ringtone. I looked in Settings/Apps and Alarmy is NOT listed. Apparently, despite being uninstalled, it is still triggering alarms.

I'm curious to know how I can finally remove/disable the Alarmy alarms. Does anyone have any ideas short of entirely erasing the phone and reinstalling *everything* from scratch or getting another phone?

Is it possible the app was setting the alarms in the stock app? That is it was simply acting as a front end to setting alarms. Check the system alarm app.

I don't know enough to answer your question although it sounds plausible in theory. I didn't realize there *was* a stock app that could set alarms. Where is it? I don't seen an Alarm app in the Google folder....

Would the stock app use the Alarmy ringtone? If I were the developer of Alarmy, I probably would have had the un-install of my app also remove the ring tones that came with Alarmy. Yet I am still hearing the Alarmy ringtone at 8am on Tuesday and Thursday.

Take a look at the 'Clock' app, that's the default Android app that came with your phone, and see if there are those alarms entries are enabled there. You should be able to alter or delete them from there.
If not, try re-installing that 'Alarmy' app, disable or delete those alarm entries you made previously, and then instead of just 'Uninstalling' the app, be sure to use the 'Force stop' button and then go into the 'Storage' sub-menu and tap on the 'Clear data' button, and then tap on 'Uninstall'. By hitting 'Clear data' that removes all the configuration settings of the app that may or may not be removed if you just hit 'Uninstall'.

I've got the Clock app (Version 7.0.80.30) in Settings/Apps but I don't see it anywhere on any of the desktop pages, including in the Google Apps folder, so that I can launch it. How do I launch it so that I can check its settings? (There are many other apps in Settings/Apps that I don't see on the desktop and I'm not sure how to access any of their settings.)

With your finger at the very bottom of the screen, swipe up to see your installed apps and tap on the 'Clock' icon.

Thank you, svim! That got me into the Clock app and I could see two alarms there (or actually one alarm set to ring on two separate days, Tuesday and Thursday at 8am using the exact same ring tone that was set in Alarmy ("Morning glory" or something similar.) I think you were right: Alarmy was just a "front-end/interface" to set the alarms in Clock.

I adjusted that alarm to only ring Tuesdays and uninstalled the *other* alarm app I'd put on to replace Alarmy. Clock does everything the others do so I'm darned if I see the point in having additional alarm clocks on the phone.

I am now cautiously optimistic that the alarms will ring only when I want them to! (I'll know for sure on Thursday and next Tuesday!)

Thanks VERY much for helping clear up that little mystery, svim! I haven't read the whole manual for the phone yet; I should make the time to do that. I'll probably learn a bunch of other useful things if I do :-)

Glad your all set. Why read a manual when you found a huge community of friendly Android users willing to help. :p :D ;)

I appreciate the sentiment but I do try to be self-sufficient as much as I can so I'll probably limit my appearances to issues that I'm not able to solve quickly through my own research. :-)

Best regards to all!

Credit should go to @Unforgiven I just added the color commentary ;-)

You're right. Initially, I wasn't watching the names of responders and just assumed it was the same person each time but now I see that there were multiple responders. Thanks to you *both*, svim and Unforgiven!
