Deleted Go SMS Pro. Now have @fm.go.chat

Lurker
I was a loyal GO SMS Pro user for the past two years. After the recent updates, I decided I wanted to try something new, so I deleted the app and downloaded mysms. That being said, now my friends who previously used Go SMS as well pop up as their phone number followed by @fm.go.chat.

That being said, with mysms, I can't send these people replies without starting a new thread. And when I send it, it acts as if their phone number isn't in my phone at all. Is anyone else having this problem and know of a way to stop it?

I even tried reinstalling Go SMS Pro to see if there was a way to disable the chat function and try that with no luck. Any suggestions would be great!

Oh, I even factory reset my phone in hopes of this stopping. No luck.

If a factory reset didn't change it, I wonder whether the changes that Go made were synced with your GMail address book, and hence restored after the factory reset. If you log into your GMail account from a browser and look at your contacts there you should be able to see whether this is the case.

Just speculating, but it seems the simplest explanation.

Welcome to the forum, by the way :)

It's really strange because their phone numbers are fine in the contacts. It's only when they text me that it comes up as this "@fm.go.chat" Because I have to start a new thread every time I text them, I know that my phone realizes their phone numbers properly, but just messes up when I look at the list of my text threads. Rather disappointing. :(

Did you ever figure out how to remove that fm.gochat at the end of the messages? It is so annoying.
I had the same problem: used go sms pro 2 years, went back to stock messaging app after they added emoticons.

Problem is not on at&t side (changed sim card and it persisted). It's not on the phone (changed phones). I thought it might be in contacts but if hidden in contacts, doesn't show up in any search.
This problem follows the phone number so it's on the Google side... I'm pretty sure it's related to the auto fill database that Google uses to make recommendations - but it should only do so when it doesn't find them in contacts. Does anyone know how to edit this invisible list?
I'm going to try putting several contacts in device and Google database to intercept the Google lookup.

GOT IT!
Not sure exactly which of these was the solution but here's what we did:

1 - on both phones (sender and receiver) go to PLAY STORE - My Apps & Games - ALL - slowly scroll down and delete every app that is related to GO SMS (I had about 12 related apps that had GO SMS as part of app name)

2 - go to messaging app and search for "@fm.go.chat" and delete all conversations (especially groups)

3 - go to contacts and search for
"@fm.go.chat" and delete all results
- search for the phone number that keeps getting "@fm.go.chat" attached and delete all
- search for the persons name and delete all entries that have "@fm.go.chat" anywhere in contact info

4 - Restart sender's phone (THIS WAS THE FINAL STEP THAT WORKED).

PS - This was After I spent 3 hrs on phone with Google tech support and 2 hrs with At&T tech support... So I'm hoping they didn't change anything.

Let me know if this works for you : )
