Deleting email account associated with Samsung

I think I've successfully deleted an unwanted gmail email account from my Samsung SM-J327A. However when I look at Accounts it shows my Samsung account with that email address attached to it. Can I safely delete the Samsung account to get all traces of that old email account off my phone? I'm wondering what that might do to other things on the phone that may be tied into that account?

The email account was created in an AT&T store when I first got the phone. I've never used it for anything but Google has it tied in with my other email account. Google still sends me notices to the unwanted email account.

To repeat: I was able to delete the gmail account from Samsung but I'm wondering about the Samsung account being tied to that email address.

Yes

Thanks. But I guess the point is moot since when I tried to delete, it asks for a password. I tried everything I could think of with no luck. It also has no "forgot p/w" feature either.
