Deleting Old Software Versions of Apps on Android.

Hello,

I have been running out of phone storage on my phone due to the previous versions of software that exist on my phone. It has been causing it to lag and not be able to download newer versions of software. How would I go about doing so??

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. Most app will purge the old or merely update the existing when updating. It's normally something you need not concern yourself with. However, you can go into settings and manage apps and delete apps that you see that you no longer want. Be advised that without root there is no removing of pre installed apps. Your low storage space is likely due to a cluttered cache, browser history, and text messages. You should check into your phone's area of discussion to find tips on freeing storage space on your device. Here is a link to the Android phones. Just click in on your device and do a search for tips on storage space.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

Olbriar is correct. You will not be able to free up space by removing old versions if you continue to use the app. Some apps do keep older versions around to make it easier to revert if you've had a problem with the new version. If you go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications and you see an "uninstall updates" button, you can completely uninstall the app, reboot the phone and reinstall directly from the market. That will put only the newer version on your phone.
