Dell laptop M1710: driver for SDreader

hi...

I have 2008 Dell Laptop M1710 XPS..

I got a very bad virus and had to reformat the harddrive and reload everything..

I loaded all the drivers and Windows xp media edition.. from the orginal disks from Dell. everything is great and working again.. but one thing.

my built in sd card reader will not work.. I mean nothing.
I searched Dell's website and even talked to live chat support... but my laptop is out of warranty.. so they will not help.

I did find a driver and loaded it. but that did not help.

anyone here .. know what I need to get my sdcard working again?

thanks,
Dan

I'm assuming you've already been to dell.com's website to download all of those drivers? The ones on the discs are the ones that shipped with your computer, but are probably old versions, and they may have released updated drivers to coincide with XP service pack releases....

Here's a good place to start....

Dell - Drivers and Downloads

Enter your Service tag number and it will get the exact drivers for your computer. You can DL them individually, or else (using IE) use a DLM to DL them all and (optionally) make a CD out of them for you. I've done this numerous times for client machines, and have yet to have a driver not work.

Windows Update might also be another solution to check out....although, with XP now out of support, that's stretching it a bit.
