Help Deplorable Battery life

So I just had battle of wits with a Verizon support jockey. He wanted me to believe that the 4 hours of battery life my wifes Devour was getting, sitting idle, was normal. After calmly and nicely informing him on how unintelligent he was, I convinced him to let me speak with someone else. Once I finally got to speak with someone of intellegence it was decided that the battery could be bad and now a new one is being overnighted. Is anyone else suddenly experiencing abysmal battery life?
 
I have noticed it sometimes, but I wasn't sure if I just didn't put it on the charger all the way or what.

And if you haven't tried adjusting the settings, here:

If you go to Settings > Battery Manager > Battery Profile you can pick between three different modes:

Performance mode - basically what it says, highest performing lowest battery
Smart mode - good performance but keeps battery in mind
Battery saver mode - lowest performance, battery is saving itself (for marriage ba dum tiss)

You can also put the battery widget on your homescreen to easily toggle wifi, brightness, bluetooth, gps, and background data.

Thanks for the input, but I've got all of that covered. I'm not sure yet, but I think there might be something wrong with device itself. We are getting a new battery tomorrow to try out and if that doesn't solve the problem then I'm gonna have to talk to Verizon again.
 
i usually have the gps, wifi, bluetooth settings off unless i need them, this allows the battery to last a lot longer. 4 hours does seem unusual, mine can go about a day between charges with regualr to heavy usage. worst case scenario you can always check out amazon for upgraded batteries, ive read that you can increase performance slightly and increase battery life by using an aftermarket unit.
 
Have you actually seen any larger batteries for the Devour. All I've managed to find so far are stock 1300mah replacements.
 
I'm curious, does anyone with a battery widget pay attention to how fast the battery depletes. For some reason my wife's goes down 10% at a time. I dont think that is normal because my Eris goes down 1% at time.
 
maybe that particular widget was optimized or built for an eris so its a bit more accurate? thats the thing with a single OS an multiple devices slight differences, or maybe its MOTOBLUR vs the Sense UI??
 
My Devour has actually been a bit sketchy lately. I haven't been able to figure out why. I had everything on lowest settings possible and my phone died after 4ish hours, 1.5 of those hours were heavy usage. I turned the phone back on and it said the battery was half left.
 
I am with homer in thinking either the battery or very very possibly the unit has a problem.
My battery on data is good for LESS than an hour, and that is with nothing else on. I have seen the battery indicator deplete to red WHILE on a charger and then reboot itself and come back to show 20 to 40 on battery.
YES it is a horribly weak performing battery but i think it is coupled with a Horible battery managent program and completeley flawed recognition of its status..
I hate also that if the battery dies while on the phone, which happens regularly, that it often gives no warning before turning itself of..

I think I will try for a warranty on the battery if not tthe entire phone.
 
I went through and deleted everything from my home screen (except text messages, I'm a whore). Before I was running beautiful widgets home, sportstap, facebook, sportsnews, google search bar, and like 15 different apps - though every time I use my phone I would use advanced task killer to end everything. I guess I'll tell you how this works out.
 
My battery life definitely increased after removing every widget. Go to Settings > About Phone > Battery Use and post what it says.
 
The new battery came in a couple of days ago, and so far it seems to have done the trick. I just wonder if she damaged the battery by leaving the phone in the sunlight in her car too long.
 
So she installed the new battery on Tuesday and charged the phone all night. When she went to work she turned the phone off and plugged it into her car charger. After work she unplugged it and checked her facebook and email, all the normal stuff. By the time she made a couple of phone calls the batter was at 90%. By the time we went to bed, about 5 hours after unplugging it, it was at 80%. All day Wednesday she did not plug it in and spent the day checking email and facebook, sending txt's and a few phone calls. By 10pm last night it finally made it down to 20%. Thats the kind of battery life I would expect to get out of this phone. Hopefully it will get even better after a few charge cycles, but so far a bad battery seems to be what has caused all of the problems.
 
I just got my Motorola Devour and I am having battery issues very similar to the person who originally posted this. I have done everything I can as far as battery saving modes, downloaded the JuiceDefender app, and turned off my auto sync for google. Is there anything I can do to extend my battery so it will at least last me through an entire day, or is it possibly the batter itself that is bad? Thanks!
