Help desparate help on battery issue

My battery drains about 10-25% an hour. I have had the droid 1/2/3 and am pretty familiar with all the tips and tricks.

Just recently the battery drained even though I had the phone turned off.

Anyone else have issues like this? Can I just have a bad battery / phone at this point. Is there anything that can be done (I purchased this used about 4 months ago, but I do have insurance on it). Thanks for any help.
 
It would cost more to run an analysis on the battery than the price of a new one, but I suspect one that was used unformed at the beginning, or one developing dendrites.

Of course, without measuring the battery drain as the phone runs, there's no way to know if the battery is fine and the phone is defective.
 
I only had experience with one battery like that in the past and it was removable (unlike the Droid 4). When it got near death it would discharge totally in about 45 minutes. The problem came on rapidly and got worse rapidly.
