Despite smart lock home location enabled - fingerprint needed

Hi guys.

I use my Moto Z Force Edition for about 1 month now. It's on andorid 7.1.1
I have my smart lock security option setup for my home.

However, the phone would lock anyway. I always have to fingerprint unlock to use it when at home.

What can I do to get Smart Lock working?

How did you identify your 'home' as a trusted place?

I ask because to get it to work I had to use the 'dropped pin' option right on my house as the 'trusted place'.

Settings > search for "Fingerprint scan" > set up pattern.

I suspect the problem was with the accuracy of the 'home' location rather than the 'fingerprint unlock'. Smart lock wouldn't work for me until I used a 'dropped pin' location instead of post code/street address and I was using pin unlock.
