Alright so im not sure if this is a bug or a vulneralbility

So i went on Ebay and a random ad popped up and said this "You must update your device in (1)Day or your device will be locked out.

So i ignored it few seconds and then my phone locked up so i assume theirs a ad out in the wild that compromises Androids Security, im using a S7 Oreo 8.0.0 with April 1st, 2018 Security Patch

Any theories?

Hmm... Isn't it true that the Oreo is supposed to be the most secure and safest version of Android?

Did you ever get the phone unlocked? I've come across a few sites that had some type of hijacking feature that will mimic itself as malware in pushing the customer into believing that there is something wrong with your device but all it is is just a Trojan web crawler but mostly in the attempt in trying to sell you something that you don't need. I would lean toward that would be a type of vulnerability in the browser settings.

I heard that BS to, but after the 6.0.1 version it seems as if it all went downhill from that point. I'm doing a side-by-side blind study on vulnerabilities in the 6.0.1 , 7.0 and 8.1 builds and so far found that the 6.0.1 still held its ground when it came to browsing vulnerabilities over the 7 and 8 Android built devices. There was a 5% margin of error in what's considered to be the high-end devices that came stocked with lookout , Norton's antivirus malware software vs Google's safe browsing apparatus.

Generally speaking, unless your device is rooted, since Android 6.0 it's almost impossible for an app to harm your device without having previously obtained necessary permissions.

FYI a Samsung S7 should be on 1st August 2018 security patch now, at the time of writing this post. Maybe worth you checking see if there's any pending updates for it. I've got an unlocked S7 with Oreo 8.0, originally supplied by Vodafone UK, and it is on latest security patch issued by Samsung.

Oh i been cheomgking dor updates and no updates but im on tmobile us variant

Something may have gotten installed as a device administrator and taken over the phone that way. Safe Mode should let you boot up if that's what happened.
Only other suggestion would be to factory reset from recovery or completely reflash the firmware.

I get random ads like that a few times a month. I've gotten that on most of my recent phones. It's just a pop up ad. I've never had my phone compromised by any of those ads. I don't answer them. I just force close the browser, reboot to recovery, and clear the cache out from there.
