I have played around with the options in there and there are some good ones to make the phone more snappy and fast at times, but i am unsure of the best settings for this!

Have anyone played around with this?
What have you tried and what feels like it worked well?

Cut all the animations from 1.0 to .5 and it will feel faster if that's what you're looking for.

I have actually turned the animations of! just like in windows on your computer it is just waste of processing power..
as well i have limited the background processes, and feel it has given a fair result, as there is a ram problem with the nexus 5x, and thereby there comes a lag or slow down the phone occasionally!

All I've done is turn off all the animations. I like things to pop open.
