Developing an application ?

Hello all ,

i want to create an application with database support of SQLite.From where should i get appropriate tutorial , about how to connect to an database.
I also want an ebook /tutorial on android from beginning.
Will you please suggest me an good link for this.

Manning: Unlocking Android

is pretty good at $25 for the ebook. I think it assumes Java knowledge.

It does - chapter 1 says 'To get the most out of this book, please be sure to brush up on your Java programming knowledge'.

Maybe something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Head-First-Java-Kathy-Sierra/dp/0596009208 would be a good accompaniment.
