Root [Development] - Custom ROM

Hey Guys,

I remember starting a similar thread for recovery development and to be honest, I did not get much of a support.. but now things have changed and looks like we have a lot of interested minds.

Now, I have started this thread to develop a custom ROM for our phones and I expect your support to complete it.

Status: I am not trying to port an ICS rom because I am not sure how the performance would be.. We can get it working but will it be fast? I am not sure.

So I have started my work on a 2.3.6 ROM but themed just like ICS. I have ported it and it boots fine.

I have problems with network, I may have to get the stock baseband and flash it again. This is where I need your help.. I am not sure how to do it.


Any ideas?
 
it boots?....that itself is soo great :) ..
i dout there are some small micromax apps in the stock rom that cud play a part in netwrk and dualsim settings..i say this becoz once i froze "Pico TTsv1.0" app and netwrk was gone..!

so its a different kernel ryt,...wat about the 51 MB swap in ram?..is it gone?.
 
umm if its performance ur worried about. why not port slim ics?. its the fastest ics rom
or darky's rom for gingerbread. MIUI has a great UI too

as for the baseband problem. I think you should extract the stock rom and try and replace most stock files with your new rom

Get me a ROM (Slim ICS or MIUI) that works on a similar device like ours and we can port it..

The ROM that I am working on actually surprised me with its speed and smoothness.. If only I can fix the bugs, it will be awesome..

i too hop performance wont b a problem..@cutecriminal said he use CM10 on his X8 and its smooth..now X8 isnt a lot better than our poor A87 ryt :D..

only network is problm?.. sensors and camera fyn?...

i also suspect TTS service v2.3.5 along with picoo tts v1.0 to play a role in netwrk..is these apps running in the new rom ?.
and the swap gone?

bugs in that hisense miui on translation..

  • wifi error! wifi hotspot does not support!
  • miui online themes download does not support (support for offline installation) on the second floor theme installation tutorial!
  • Mount the SD card is not perfect, the use of dual mount solve!
  • USB debugging each use, you need to re-check the USB debugging option
  • Desktop clock can not be used
  • Four Diamond can be bright, but the vibration feedback is invalid, the rest of vibration normal.
  • There may be some ...
hop we wont get more bugs :)

porting is hard cause its framework is htc. and different too.

Its not necessary that it has to be the same chipset to port ROMS.. BUT I do not think we have the skills or minds to do that right now.

Lets take the easy way out - Porting a ROM that is for a similar device like ours :D
 
If single Sim Rom will support our A87, then Huawei Ascend G300 is almost similar ph,check out its specification.

also the site says "This ROM will only work on a phone with a 2030 baseband version. If you flash this to a device with the 109808 baseband, the ROM will not boot. Therefore, this is only compatible with devices B926 and above."...!!


 
@ All,

Sethuram and I are working on porting a ROM for our device.

As I said earlier, it is based on 2.3.6 but its a lot smoother and faster..

We were able to boot the ROM but at this stage it is full of bugs.. The biggest problem being no network.

I would like to know if any of you are interested in working with us and help fix the bugs..

Send us a PM and we will send you the link to download the ROM with whatever we have managed to fix till now.

Only interested folks who can dedicate enough time... PING US..

and i just saw some where about some newlibs for adreno 200 gpu......u guys including them?
and
are u guys able to free up 50 mb zram?

Go for the MMX A110 bro..

Its awesome in terms of look, feel and price.. In my opinion better than the A21 but only time will tell..
