I just wanted to post our experience here. My 18 yo daughter got the Devour 4/1 of this year. She loved it. Had trouble with it from the beginning though, restarting on it's own and freezing. We were being patient, she has done 2 hard resets over the last few months, along with her daily(sometimes multiple times) restarts. Every time we would complain they would say "wait on the android update, it will fix it". So before calling today I decided to research and found on motorola's site that it would stay 1.6. So I called. After getting to the tech guy and going through the history, he wanted to do a hard reset. I told him I didin't see the point, it had been done twice and didn't help either time. He then told me that updates "mess up the phone". And he said if he sent a refurb one, if they got her current one in and found nothing wrong, we would be charged(I'm assuming this is scare tactics, anyone know if that is true?). After I convinced him we didn't need to do a hard reset, he said he would send a refurbed Devour, but to "ignore all updates". I promptly told him that was unreasonable, when we bought a new phone, we expected it to work as intended, and be able to stay updated. He told me to hold, and came back about 5 minutes later to say the only other phone he could send was a refurbed Droid. Daughter said ok, so that is what we are getting(supposedly tomorrow, but I know it might be Friday).
