Help Dialer hogging data

Hello

I hope someone can help. I have an HTC One X. I recently had to factory reset it. Since the reset I noticed a high volume of data usage. When I looked a little closer it seems that Dialer Launcher is the culprit. I checked the phone itself to see if there is any where that I can stop it from using the internet but couldn't find anything. I've also used Google to find a solution and found a number of people that have the same issue but the only advice I have found is to root your device and this allows you access to stop it. Surely there must be a way of doing this. It wasn't happening before the reset and I haven't installed any apps that I was using before.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

OK, great, so you don't have the ICS bug on this.

Does your notifications include a constant syncing icon (circle, two arrows chasing themselves)?

If so, main settings, accounts, turn off auto syncing. Actually, let's do that in any case.

Hold down power for 10 seconds to force hardware reset (won't affect your data).

After phone is back on, wait 5 minutes and then go back and turn auto syncing back on.

Btw - are you using Facebook contacts?

It's been a while, if the above steps don't work and you're using Facebook contacts, I'll have to go back and look up those steps.

Anyway, please start with the above.

Hi

It seems that it is when synch is turned that it's eating up data. I tried the hard reset but it made no difference. I think I need to turn things off and see what might be doing it. I do synch my Google contacts with Facebook. I think I know where that is. I might try turning that off first.
