Dialing from a calendar Appointment

I am a former BB user and live by the many conference calls I have to join and lead on a daily basis. I have not found the secret to enabling an automatic dialing function from a synchronized calendar appointment from Microsoft Outlook. With the BB, there was simply an added character to separate the conference call-in number from the secure passcode to enter the conference. Ex - 1-800-555-1212x1234567890

If this was entered into the Outlook calendar appointment in this format, the user could simply open the calendar invite and highlight the number and select and the number would dial and log you into the call.

With the android, this is not possible (as far as I could find), so here is a clumsy workaround - it saves keystrokes, but doesn't eliminate the need to edit within the dialer:

Place the conference bridge # and the conference bridge as well as one continuous string of text:

1-800-555-1234 Conference bridge#
0123456789 passcode

So, you would enter:

Enter 1-800-555-12340123456789# as the number in the location field.

Then, the user would:

1) Open the calendar invite
2) Select the phone number
3) In the Android dialer, tap the number between the conference bridge # and the passcode and then hit the menu
4) In the pop up menu, select “Add 3 sec pause”
5) Then dial

This isn’t elegant, but it is easier to manage than having to write the passcode down on paper and then having to type in 10 digits when prompted.

Hope this helps
