Dictatorship by proxy?

we cannot expect a president to blindly follow a directive from congress that a president would have had to sign into law in the first place?

guess what....... WRONG ANSWER

the example he gives in his ending paragraph........ after spending the rest of his article outlining how Obama has violated his oath of office and clearly stepped outside the boundaries of the constitution......... relates to a governor of a state (you can figure out the difference there Im hoping) and an act from the 1800s (you can also figure out some small difference there Im hoping)

until we have a different system in place...... the president is OBLIGATED to uphold every law on the books........ or change them........ no matter how ridiculous he feels they may be...... as long as its a law..... the ONLY body that can dictate whether its followed or not is the courts... period

he cannot pick and choose which laws he decides to uphold

would you have the same opinion if a racist president decided not to uphold laws protecting minorities?

what if Romney gets elected and declares the government will no longer defend any law that prohibits blacks from entering restaurants......... would you say thats his perogative?

when the leader of a country does what he wants regardless of the law...... that is no longer any form of democracy........ it is a dictatorship..... which is pretty much what that article spells out for you

... he cannot pick and choose which laws he decides to uphold ...

"not prosecuting Bush officials in connection with alleged torture of terror suspects."

Good point, perhaps you can lead the charge on this one.:D

Perhaps he thinks he's protecting the country ?

"

I would encourage him to try to prosecute Bush for the treatment of prisoners....... bare in mind he has continued every single one of those "torture" policies ...... so hes also going to face the exact same punishment

of course first you must take into account that nothing illegal was done......... therefore MOST people would be smart enough to see a difference in refusing to uphold actual laws and refusing to go on a witch hunt where laws werent even broken to begin with

But there were some racist presidents who did exactly that, most where after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Of course they where following the people's 'popular demand'.
