Did T-Mobile launch new HSPA+ markets?

This article says that they now have 4G in Chico.
Their 4G coverage map says otherwise.
Also, one can go here, select "Data Coverage", and enter Chico, CA 95926 to see that there is still only 3G coverage there

First, the maps and web sites are probably the slowest to get updated when there is a change. A better way to determine what kind of speeds are available is to find people in the area who have T-Mobile 4G phones and ask them what they are getting.

T-Mobile did recently announce that 55 markets would be getting full 4G LTE coverage starting today:

I'm in one of the markets listed in the article, but I don't have a 4G phone. And even if I did, I don't know if the new LTE speeds will require a different kind of phone.

T-Mobile doesn't have LTE. They have 42 Mbps HSPA+.
