Help "Didn't allow installing X via USB"

All of a sudden, Android on my Xiaomi Redmi won't run the app I use to sync it with Windows:

Any idea what I could try?

Did you actually try what it says in that message, in the Developer options?

No, because it doesn't say what I should do specifically (there's quite a few items in there.)

In the Developer options on your Xiaomi, do you see anything about the USB options, like installing and monitoring apps installed by USB.

I presume you've got Developer options enabled, because that's off by default.

This is something I've never done or seen myself, so I'm only going by what that Security notification states.
