Kinda weird question.. Im going to visit my friend and id like to give the guy a gift Die-cast model car (jeep) 1:18. Its Made out of metal there's lots of tiny details. Do you think it'll be alright to take it with me in cabin because im traveling light with no heavy luggage?

Worst case scenario is that they will you pull aside and look in your bag. That happened to me once, my sister had given me an antique silver plate, lighter (non-functioning) and cup. The agent saw it on the x-ray but couldn't figure out what it was so had to have a look. No big deal, unzipped the bag and showed them then was on my way.

It should be fine in your bag, just wrap it well so it doesn't get bumped around too much.

I don't think you have anything to worry about at all.

If it's new, keep it in the box (wrapped and cushioned, but in a way that they can open it easily without tearing up the wrapping). But, considering the stuff I've brought along in hand-carried bags (think running gyroscopes being taken for rides to see how accurate they were), I don't think a model car is going to bother them too much.

Think you'll be OK, keep it boxed or packaged. If it's new it should be in a box. They often sell this kind of item air-side anyway, in the duty free gift shops. Only thing I've been stopped for when going through security fairly recently, is Colgate toothpaste of all things.
