Help different internal storage size in different places

iamus

Lurker
I have a Huwawei ascend G630 with Android 4.3 on it. It says it has a 4 GB storage and I have a 16 GB SD card.

storage settings says I have a total space of 1.86 GB space where 887MB is available, which does not make sense if I have 4 GB

What's even weirder is on the app settings it says I have 0.88 GB used and 103 MB free...

the result of most of this is that I can't download any apps any more since it always says I have insufficient storage, but I know that's not true.

When I mount the device on the computer I get 825 is free ad 119 MB is free for the Internal storage.

So, all those numbers are confusing, I don't know which one to go by but I think the numbers on the computer are more accurate.

I am not sure what to do in order to resolve this.... i would appreciate any help

Welcome to the forums!

Here's where to go to start removing the confusion -

http://androidforums.com/threads/qu...ruth-read-me-first-now-with-ram-truth.906249/

You phone's storage is divided into /system where the bulk of the operating system and where your pre-installed apps are, /data where your added apps, system app updates, and all private app data goes - and a number of other partitions for the kernel, radio firmware and so forth.

Your pc can't see into any those areas - they're protected.

Optionally your phone storage may set aside room for your media and an external sd card - your pc can see those.

The apps in the thread above will reveal the full truth about your phone's layout - and - also your ram memory if you're curious about that.

When your /data or hidden operating system /cache folders get too full, it's true - you have to uninstall apps to add others.

Hope this helps!
