Direct dial shortcuts not working

I am having this problem on my evo 3d though it also occurred on my evo 4g. Direct dial shortcuts I create on my home screen work a few times, and then stop working. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Does a reboot fix it? I don't use direct dial links as I'm likely to accidentally dial people when I don't want to. Also, try going to menu (button) > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Dialer > Clear data.
 
I have the same issue on htc evo 4g with sprint. Did not have this problem for the first 6-9 months. Showed up at some point. Restarting phone does not fix it. I just have to delete the shortcut and create another one. Anyone identify the cause and solution? This is definitely annoying. Thanks.
 
I am having the same problem on my HTC One. The direct dial works for a day or two then states app not installed. I can remove it and create it again but it continues to do the same thing after a couple of days. Anyone find a solution?

Did you find a solution? I bought a HTC One a couple of weeks ago and I am having same problem. Mine is through at&t.
 
I am using an HTC EVO 4G and this is a really annoying problem that still rears its ugly head. I'm taking over a phone that is refurbished/unused that my family never activated until now. Direct dial icons seem to work for a while and then just stop working.
