Help Disable Network and Whatsapp Question...

Sorry for two different possible question but I do believe they are related once you finish reading this.

My friend told me that Whatsapp has a new built-in call option, much like BBM used to have and many others also have now.

I have Nexus 5 setup in a way that all my apps update automatically but just in case my whatsapp version is 2.12.5 and I am on Lollipop.

When trying to call on of my whatsapp contacts, it takes me to the same/normal/regular screen that I use when dialing a regular phone number and that had me a little worried because I was calling a family member Overseas. He also has Android and he was also worried that he did not know whether the call would be on his number (toll + long distance charges) or just as a data usage.

I tried to go into my settings to disable both the data usage and my network but was unable to do so, hence, the network question.

This is what I have tried to do...

Goto Settings/Data Usage/Celluar Data: Off ----- I have to assume this turns my Data Off?

Turned Airplane Mode Off but this does not work as this also turns my Wi-Fi off disabling also the use whatsapp.

There is no place that allows me to turn my Network Off and only work with Wi-Fi so I can make 100% that whatsapp is not using either my Data or my Network to make that call.

Go into airplane mode, then turn WiFi back on while in airplane mode. That should do what you want.

However, if it's going to the regular dialler my guess is that it's not going to work with the cellular network off.

Thank you for that. Yes, I was able to go into Airplane Mode and then turn on my Wi-Fi but you are correct... with Network and Data off (and even On), the call is Ended right away or right after I click on the Green-Phone button.

I guess I have to do a little more research on the Whatsapp forum, I just hate to register to multiple forums just for 1 question.
