Hi all,

I have a question regarding android notifications. I have a Nexus 9 tablet, and I would like to disable all notifications when the screen is off. This is because I use mightytext to text on my tablet, and I want to only have "new message" notifications to show when I am using the tablet, so I don't always have to clear the notifications when I use the tablet after not using it for a period of time. Is there a way to do this? I tried using Tasker, but there isn't a "disable notifications" feature.

Thanks!

Bit of a learning curve, but Tasker will do what you want.

Edit: Noticed that you mentioned Tasker already. It's true that there is no pre-defined profile to disable notifications, but you can have Tasker reduce notification volume to zero w/o affecting ringtone.

Thank you for your suggestion. I already have notification sounds off, I'm more looking to have it so the notification does not show in the notification bar at all when the screen is off. Any idea if this can be done?

Hmm, that might be a tall order. I don't think your request is specific to the N9, so moving this to Android Applications.

It would be an ugly solution, but with Llama (and I guess with Tasker) you could kill the messaging & email application, or kill the synchronization when the screen is turned off, in order to effectively prevent notifications. Then you could have Tasker/Llama turn that stuff back on when the screen comes back on.
