Help Disable SIM or remove SIM?

I have a dual SIM phone but I barely use the 2nd SIM and my phone's battery capacity is not very good. So I've decided to disable/remove the 2nd SIM in order to extend my phones battery charge. But I just want to know if there is a difference if I just disable the 2nd SIM and just keep it inserted rather than by removing it and leaving the 2nd SIM slot empty. Thanks.
 
Disabling it will only disable the use of the SIM and will probably help the charge by 1 or 2%.
