Disabling the Lockscreen Music Player widget?

Hi guys. I'm trying to listen to podcasts on My HTC desire whilst walking the dog, but because of the darned music player widget being operable through the lockscreen, it keeps pausing or skipping! Can i turn this blasted widget off?

The skipping is not down to the Headphones issue on this one, i've solved that.

Cheers in advance for any advice?

No! I do too. It was driving me crazy on the way home from work today - the native Music Player and bTunes both seem to get stuck and constantly skip through tracks. To stop bTunes I had to physically turn the phone off.

Did you find a solution?

I'm with you and surprised there are so few people annoyed by this!

Just came back from a jog, had to post this - my HTC skipped on me annoyingly because of the music controls on the lock screen. Would really like to get rid of them or maybe to unlock only when pushing power with menu together... Any ideas?

Have you checked out the WidgetLocker app? It is a lock screen replacement that you can put widgets on, or in your case, not put widgets on :) It has both a Stock and Sense UI theme, so you can pick whichever you like.

I only just downloaded it about an hour ago but it seems to work quite well for only a dollar.

Hi,
I had the same problem and used WidgetLocker, with no widgets (except the clock). That solved part of the problem, but it's wider than that.

There are a number of ways that the lock screen can be onlocked by mistake just from random contact in a pocket or bag.

For example, notification widgets which then open up an app when touched, or an inadvertant swipe of the notification/status bar down from top of screen (it doesn't take much).

I have turned off as many of the widgets as I can, but I still pull my phone out of my pocket only to find that its been doing random operations, phoning people, deleting emails or whatever.

IMO what's needed is a lockscreen app that genuinely locks the screen. Allows notifications & widgets to appear, but prevents input until the unlock is swiped.

If anyone knows of such a thing, or an alternate solution I'd love to hear about it.

Wally
