Discover app doesn't open when notifications are pressed

MoodyBlues

Compassion is cool!
When I get an alert from Discover and press the notification, nothing happens. It should fire up the Discover app, and then [after logging in] take me to whatever the alert was about.

I've deleted its cache--nothing, then cache and data--nothing, then uninstalled and reinstalled--still nothing.

I didn't have this issue on the identical phone this one replaced.

Hello,

A lot of the times this is because you do not have notifications turned on in the app it’s self.

However, this is not always the problem. A lot of the time it is because the app is corrupted… So if this is the case, I recommend removing the app, and installing it from verified sources.

1. If you have an iPhone,
- Install it from the App Store.
2: If you have an Android,
- Install it from the play store.
3. If you have a Samsung phone,
- Install it from the Samsung store.

If it will not allow you to install it, look for these sources on the Internet, or use the computer to install the app.

If the app itself didn't have its notifications turned on...how am I getting its notifications?

Did you notice its Play Store link--and where I said I'd uninstalled and reinstalled it?

I wouldn't be posting on Android Forums.

Hello, sorry sometimes I completely oversee somethings.

Yes I did just now notice the Google Play link, and I stated about the other sources as this is a common issue on multiple platforms.

My question is, when you open the app do you see where the alert is comming from?

Also, do you want the notifications on for that specific app?

Finally, I do want to state that I have never used the app that you are having that issue with. The reason I did want to mention about verified sources is because there is a lot of times we may have downloaded an app from an unverified source, and than all of a sudden start having issues with other apps. This is because a lot of these apps download trojans/viruses onto the phone.

I do also want to say that some apps just have bugs with thwir notifications, so if it is not a vital app that you use all the time, than I would wait for the app to update, and than see if the problem persists.

Really, none of that applies here, Eye In The Sky, but I appreciate your input. :)

The app in question is the official app for the Discover Card, installed directly from Play. I think its odds of containing malware/trojans/etc. are slim to none. :D

At any rate, since posting this thread in June, the problem has disappeared. It most likely was due to a buggy update, then corrected with a later one.
