Help Disqus

Sorry not actually Android question, but can anyone guide me on safety of Disqus?
I don't have a web site. I have concerns.

Care to say what the concerns are? Might help people address them.

(I've no real knowledge of Disqus, just saying that it's easier to address a concrete concern than a general one. They have no information about me apart from a disposable email address, and I use them so rarely that they won't get any useful profile from my activity, so to me personally there's not much they could do.)

Thanks for reply. I did enter my email address but realized I was getting into something I didn't understand. I didnt proceed but kept getting hassled to confirm my address, I replied saying I did not want to progress but kept getting hassled. Perhaps my replies were unmonitored. Anyway next thing I seem to be a member, I had app I seemingly had access to ppl who didnt seem to be visible on ordinary Twitter and had great access and exchanged a few comments. But not knowing how safe it was to be commenting, or for them (unknown) to have access to my info. I uninstalled, and removed Twitter and an attempt was made to contact me so blocked them. Tonight (happenstance? after I removed Malwarebytes) something popped up from Disqus. Whew. So I have concerns.
I didnt say much but admit it was fun to feel included in their chatter.

Ah, I didn't even know there was a Disqus app! I know that many sites use Disqus as a login for comments (e.g. Phandroid, the site this forum is attached to), but that's all I've ever used it for: just a web login for comments as an alternative to using say a facebook login. So beyond posting a couple of comments on articles on a couple of sites I've not had any other interaction with it, and never used it on my phone at all, so didn't realise there was a discussion forum or similar associated with it.

But when you say "something popped up from Disqus" that might depend on what you were doing when it popped up. For example, if you tried to comment on a site which requires a Disqus login I can imagine a Disqus login box popping up even if you had never registered with them.

If you want to remove your account, rather than just uninstalling an app, I've found some information here: https://help.disqus.com/customer/portal/articles/472013-deleting-your-account

Yes I was trying to add a comment to a Tweet.
I think it was an app but have bad memory and maybe it was what I referred to as an app - a 2nd copy of Twitter that was black. That's why I deleted twitter. Both apps disappeared.
As I said I enjoyed my time, but having such little knowledge and traveling blind, I freaked out.
So may not be too good if login as self.
I think I will use ur link yo delete it until/unless I can believe it is safe.
Something that doesn't appear to go away can't be good.
* BTW before I deleted the Twitters I had warnings from 2 websites that my phone was unsafe and to logout.*

OK, good luck.

I just checked, and disqus used to have an Android app, but withdrew it in 2012. So presumably the actual app was something else.
