Help Ditching the code lock

Go back to the lockscreen settings and and set it to swipe.

Follow this path:

System Settings | Security | Screen Lock [enter your PIN when prompted] | Choose screen lock

Then choose Pattern or Password, and follow its prompts.

I did find it, though, under Security/Content lock/Set lock. But the menu defines content lock as "lock files for Gallery and memos for QuickMemo+"--is that the same thing?

No. You definitely need 'screen lock.'

Your question might be more relevant if you asked where LG put it in their Settings menu set up. Some manufacturers opt to leave the base Android interface as is, some of them like to modify and alter the interface to suit their own purposes. Try and see if this applies:

On *my* 5.1 phone, it's the exact path I posted. Mine is a Moto X 2nd Generation.
