Do i need to change my phone or need update?

I have the Samsung I9000 (with Claro from Puerto Rico), I think it's the first galaxy. Now whenever I update certain apps they just don't open or don't work properly. For example an update on Candy Crush made the app simply not open anymore and it makes me ''force close'' the app, also an update on Snapchat made the camera screen have green and red color boxes in the pictures besides the fact that my friends don't receive my videos. Should I just buy a new more updated galaxy or is there an app or some way to make my ''old'' phone work like the new ones???
