Help Do Not Disturb

I typically set Do Not Disturb ON when my wife takes an afternoon nap so as to not disturb her if someone calls. I did this today and when someone called the phone rang (and woke her up).

I thought Do Not Disturb would turn off the phone ringer. Is that wrong? And, if so, how do I silence incoming phone calls other than by changing the ring to silent?

Do not disturb is usually a setting for scheduled hours.
You want to choose something like silent instead.

OK. But if it is set manually why would it not silence the ringer when a call is received? I would think that Do Not Disturb would mean no sounds.

I can use Silent instead, and it is no more trouble than using Do Not Disturb, but why would Do Not Disturb not work?

Because do not disturb will only not ring or notification sound during the set hours that you set it to. If you choose silent, then everything will be silent.
You would need to check your do not disturb settings and change that appropriately

OK. Thank you. I will start using Silent mode.

This seems to be different from how it worked on my old Samsung S7 Edge. On that phone I just set Do Not Disturb manually and the phone did not ring if a call came in, but the settings description for the S7 specifically says that the phone will not ring while the settings description for the S10+ says no such thing.
