Do purchased apps transfer phone to phone?

Hey guys,

I'm new to Android and just purchased an HTC Inspire. I'm thinking of switching it out for the Atrix in a few weeks when it comes out and am wondering if the apps I paid for will transfer over automatically. If not automatically is there a way to do it so I don't waste my money? Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have two different google phones with one google account, would you be able to use one purchased app on both phones?

Most times if it is purchased outside the marketplace. You are provided a .apk file to download. Just make sure you keep that .apk file backed up somewhere. I ususally back mine up 2 different places. 1) to my external sd card and 2) to a thumb/flash drive.

"Most" are.
There are apps you can get outside of the Market.
You'll need other arrangements for those.
