Do We Really Have 4G Service With Sprint? Hmmmmm

No US carrier has or will have true 4G according to the technical standards. Faster than 3G - yes but not real 4G. As to speed claims, they all vary and the theoretical claims simply don't matter in the real world.

TMo's HSPA+ is fast but the coverage claim is suspect as TMo has the smallest footprint of the major carriers and is not 100% GSM compatible and roaming with ATT.

As far as what users see, anything approaching home ISP levels is all we can expect now. I get that from time to time with Sprint "4G" but it's not consistent. When I do have good 4G signal though, DLs are faster than my Optimum but the capped ULs are always slower. Sprint should raise or release the upload cap.

The good thing about their HSPA+ is that if you're in an area that has it and you get 3g coverage you pretty much get it. You dont have to worry about the building penetration issues etc. like we do with the wimax. I mean I like 4G but honestly it is spotty to say the least. I can go in one room and have it and in another room and not have it.

Doesn't anyone else think the ITU is off their rocker with their so called specifications?

I mean, they want 100mbps throughput from 3g to 4g.. that's insane.
