Do you think big red will give us a date or advanced warning on tiered data?

For the 4G, even if they didn't want to tell customers, it'll be found out when they're doing it and what the prices are long before the roll out of new data plans.And Voided is right, existing 3G/4G plans should be grandfathered in.

I highly doubt if you are currently on a unlimited 3g plan you will be grandfathered into a 4g unlimited plan.

I highly doubt that. Plans are to make 3G true unlimited and 4G called unlimited, but actually capped to ~5GB, just like 3G was when I first got my DROID....

You say that authoritatively, do you work for Verizon?

Everything I have heard suggest 4g will be tiered, with no unlimited plans unless you already have a 4g plan.

I am not doubting that they will cap the ''unlimted'' plans as they already do it for the top 5% of users.

We're all dealing with speculations right now and if I'm wrong I won't loose much sleep over it. About all anyone can say for certain is that there will be tiered data plans. We just don't know how they'll be implemented exactly.

I concur, we are all speculating. However, if unlimited 4g is important to you or anybody else, I would go ahead and pick up a 4g phone/plan now and the best way to do so is purchasing from Costco because they have a 90 return/exchange offer. So you can get a current 4g phone w/ plan and hope something better comes out this summer.

Of course this will not necessarily ensure unlimited 4g, but it is the safest bet.

Good advice. The current crop of 4G Verizon phones are not bad, per say, and that will give you a good chance to see how 4G works for you.
