While some here undoubtedly have dedicated GPS's, there are many here that use their Android phone and Google Maps. Maps is really terrific and often (not always) shines in comparison to ones GPS offering. Anyway, known to few using Google Maps, there are "Labs" that you can put into play that without a doubt make your Maps experience even better..

To activate Labs:

Open the Google "Maps" app on your Android phone
When in Maps, go to Menu and then to SETTINGS
Now go to Labs
Now, select the desired Labs you wish to activate

For me I consider "Bubble Buttons" and "Bigger Text" must have
labs. Scale Bar and Measure and Pre-Cache Map are may also be desired by you.

How do I view my pre cache? I know press download pre cache and it downloads then squares off the area but how do I wire it in that 3d look?

thanks for the tip.

I'm a huge fan of google maps as i travel a lot for work. I replaced my Tom Tom with my google maps on my android.

I'm on a Droid X but still found this helpful. Now only if my phone didn't freeze/reboot in the middle of navigation every single time... :(
