Document Scanner App?

I have Jot Not for iPhone which does a great job of scanning documents, white boards, etc. and putting them into a multiple page PDF. Does Android have anything similar?

There are several apps that do that, (Taking a pic and saving it as a pdf). Search the market using "pdf scanner" and you should get several hits.

what's the advantage of having it as a PDF file as opposed to just keeping it a jpeg?

The advantage in my line of work is that I can create a multi page document from my phone that I can mail out to coworkers. I use this all the time for collecting notes and meeting items collected on white boards and giant post its. I could do a jpeg, but a PDF document is much easier to send and print from.

Scan2pdf works pretty well. Document Scanner also has an add on that will allow you to crop the doc before you save it. I am in the process of trying out the two of them to see which one works better.

Keep an eye on Droid Scan... the new features in the next version will make it the most complete document scanning solution on the Android Platform.
