Are there any free document scanner apps on the market?

I've been on the search for essentially the same thing. It's interesting to note that Android itself has an OCR engine built-in (Tesseract), or at least available in the source (I'm not quite sure if it actually included on devices)... but searching in the market there seems to be exactly one "demo" application and it's incompatible with my device

Assuming you're not looking for OCR capabilities, there are several. I'm using the paid version of CamScanner, but the free version works well.
