Does anyone have one?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I may actually get one. Ugh...I don't' need a new phone!

Went to Best Buy today, they are on sale for $599 but I am thinking they are clearing the 'old' stock, my store had one phone and no display model. So, I went to Sprint. I should not have done that, the phone is really, really nice. I want one. Now.

The math is bad, either way is way too much to justify but there is only a $50 difference between buying directly from Essential or getting one from BB. I should just sit and ponder this some more but it's so easy to hit that 'buy now' button. I haven't yet - yet...

If they had released them in Europe I might well have bought one: the hardware looks really good, a few software teething troubles I can live with and they seem to be responding to. But we still haven't got a release date here, my current phone is getting very glitchy, and the Pixel 2 has just been released, so that's me out.

(I'm in NY in about a week - I am really not going to go into a store and have a look. Honest...).

Ummm. It's on sale on Amazon, $100 off. When I redo the math it's much better! I get 5% back on my Amazon CC, so $30-ish...the price of needed accessories!! Free accessories! And the phone is still $100 off. I have no business getting this phone but suspect I'm going to fall off the edge sometime today. Oh dear!

I've got one had it since Cyber Monday 2017 and it's been a great phone upgraded from a Nexus 6 and I love this little device. I actually got it with the 360 camera whuch I don't usually use but it's a cool little gimmick. Touch screen does lag at times but the battery last me almost all day and I'm usually streaming music via Bluetooth to my headphones, I know it git a lot of bad press but fir the price it's a solid device and one I'd definitely recommend.

Amazon has the black for $464.
The Gray and white are $499.

Dammit, I'm reading this on a 6 month old Pixel 2, so probably a bit late for me. And it looks like it's just an offer to ship here - which is progress, but it is not clear whether there's any more warranty cover than you'd get if you just bought from Amazon (which was a major reason I didn't buy it - I prefer to be covered by UK sales conditions).

It is tempting, but I'll be in trouble if I buy another phone so soon ;)

I'm leaning towards an Essential phone just to see how this "notch" thing works. I don't really need a new phone either. I saw Apple's notch in action finally and it wasn't that bad. When viewing videos there's a quick action to leave the notch out. I hope Android includes that option.
I still don't like notches on the homescreen though.

I don't watch a ton of video on my phone but the notch does not get in the way at all. Amazon does an almost full screen so only a tiny bit of the notch is there, YouTube TV doesn't go entire full screen so the notch doesn't come into play at all. Of course, that means it's not a full screen display either, there are black bars on both sides.

On the home screen there is nothing in the middle anyway, so it's not blocking anything (unless you have something on your wallpaper).

I really like the phone but will say the camera is not the greatest even after all the updates. I'm no power user, it does what I need it to do and does it well.

edit: oh, on Amazon you can zoom out a bit to bypass the notch.

You mean for still improving performance with updates, or getting the security patches out the same day as Google.

They do have my respect so far.
