does jelly bean give samsung gaxy s3 a battery life increase?

I am currently running 4.0.4. on my galaxy s3. I just bought the phone yesterday and the battery life is not the best. I already researched all of the settings that I need to tweek to increase battery life and I did these. I notice battery life gets worse when I have bad signal. Will the jelly bean update give me better battery life on this phone? Any experiences?

firstly, it takes a while 1-2 weeks for the system to optimize your battery life so don't worry about it. Just use it like you would normally do and it will get better.

Secondly, all phones drain lots of battery when signal is bad or not there. It's constantly searching for a signal.

thirdly, JB will probably not give you better battery life if you plan to use google now. however, the battery life won't get much worse than your daily use.

lastly, give your phone a week or so before you talk about bad battery life. in about a week or two weeks time, you should get about 2-3 hours of on screen time per charge/day.

This is spot on.

OP, I just got my phone little over a week ago and had the same exact complaints. Firstly, remove those battery checkers and all that jive. And give the phone some good charges over night.

Mine was draining at an alarming rate and was making myself nuts over the battery. I did all the same recommendations and the battery was just draining.

I then stopped worrying, gave it a few LONG night charges and the phone has settled in and my battery is awesome now and lasts a long time. So that's what I suggest.
