Help Does location service without GPS use extra battery?

I have three options when the location service is turned on in my Asus Zenphone

1. Device only, using GPS
2. Via network only
3. Both device and network (High accuracy and high battery consumption mode)

When I choose 2 while connected to 4G or wi-fi, does it use any extra battery?

It depends on the device and radio reception.

Wifi is usually no big deal with power - it's a very short range radio.

After that, depending on the phone, either 4G or GPS could be more battery efficient over the other. That's going to depend on the radio power efficiency of the 4G and GPS radios and the signal strength.
