Does the LED on the front do anything?

When I got into my car today, I saw the LED on the front of the phone was lit (green). I had no notifications of unread email or texts, and the battery was at over 70%

What is that thing good for?

(New to this phone)

If it's not blinking, it's not about notification. Maybe it wants to tell you something unusual.

There is no LED support for notifications … only charging.

The response posted elsewhere from Motorola …

There is a green LED light that works only when you are charging your phone from a very low battery state. It shows us as its sign of life and shows us that the phone is charging but there is not enough battery power yet to turn on the display of the phone. Since you have charged the phone for few hours, try to press the power button to turn on the phone and see if that works.

Once it has a sufficient power, the light will stop flashing and the screen will light up.

For a test I ran the battery down.
  • When it read 0% it powered off.
  • I plugged in the Turbo Charger.
  • A white charging screen was displayed and the green LED blinked once.
  • When the white charging screen showed 5% I did a power on.
This is the only time I ever saw the LED do anything.
