Does the size of the sd card affects the "lagness" of a video when playing it?

Hello guys, I am using galaxy ace, and I only have a 4GB sd card, whenever I play the vid that I downloaded using mobo player it is lagging. the size of the vid is 32MB. Please suggest what to do..

Generally speaking, no. It depends on the class of the SD Card as that dictates the read/write speed (how fast your phone is able to read the data on the card).

What class is the card? 2 is the slowest, 10 is the fastest.

Also, when you're playing videos with MOBO player, did you select Software or Hardware decoding?

Oh I see, I should buy a faster sd card then. I never heard of the software and hardware decoding? what should I choose from the 2 then?

Maybe Moboplayer doesn't use it, I know Rockplayer (which is what I use) does so I presumed it was an option in Mobo too as it's quite popular. I tend to find I get better results with Software decoding though.

There are other things to look out for too. If the resolution of the video is bigger than the resolution of the phones screen, that can cause lag/jumpiness. Looking at the spec of the Ace, the resolution is relatively low (320x480), so you may find a lot of videos are a tad laggy unfortunately. :(

Try Rockplayer though, I find that pretty good and will play most of the things I want it too.

Ace is kind of a low powered phone, so it has a trouble to play complex encoded videos.

SD card speed is important, but not that much for low resolution videos. The playback speed should be good enough even on low speed cards.

MoboPlayer should automatically play videos with hardware decoding, if the videos are suitable. Otherwise, it will play videos with software encoding. Needless to say that hardware encoding is preferred.

A more practical solution would be to re-encode videos with correct parameters (like codec, resolution, etc) that can be smoothly played on Ace.
