Does this count as "texting"

I'm logged into Gmail on my laptop computer, and my wife shows up in my contact list. I send her a message through the gmail chat, and it apparently is being received on her phone. Does this count as "texting" for the purposes of billing, or is it just plain old messaging through the internet?

Unlike the article, however, I do not see the cell phone icon and do not receive the warning. I'm not sure if that's just google and "not yet implemented", or if that's an "all clear" signal. Comments?

It's not sent through your device, so no tower or sending apparatus is going to see the data stream except for the internet servers your laptop has an account with, and then the recipient's phone.

I am not 100% certain, but I have strong doubts that it would be logged as texting on your Verizon account.

If you are sending her an SMS it will count as a recieved txt on her phone. I use to use that feature in yahoo all the time. if she has a g-talk client on her phone that uses data instead of txt (smartphone) then no sms charges. Your bill will be fine, you could blow hers up though if you don't have a txt package!

Yup, its just like BBM for blackberry's . Or even MMS for smart phones. Those are sent through data and doesn't affect your sms(text message)
