Does XPERIA Z1 support 4G in INDIA?

I am planning to buy z1 this month so want my mobile to be future ready. Please help me to know if z1 supports 4G in india as some telecom operator will start providing 4G services from the month of August. Currently there is no 4G service provider in INDIA. Which other options are available to buy. I prefer z1 over nexus 5 due to its premium look and better camera.

As far as I can tell from a web search, Airtel are rolling out TD-LTE (time-division LTE) using band 40 (2.3 GHz), which is not one of the more common LTE versions. So you should check carefully the compatibility of any phone before buying, especially if not buying an Indian-market version.

The China Mobile Z1 variant is the only one I know of which might give 4G service on that type of network (at least if my web searches are accurate), but you may not want Chinese software on your phone. Otherwise it probably isn't going to give you 4G (unless there is another provider using a different band/technology). If you are buying through your network, check with them first.

Also, it may be that since India doesn't have 4G yet, devices sold there don't have 4G antenna. I remember that before 4G was sold in my country, we don't get any of the 4G capable versions of phones in shops. They only started appearing after the telecoms started 4G. So if you buy now, you might get a version that isn't 4G capable at all.

China Mobile does use band 40 for TD-LTE. But with a phone that's specifically for China Mobile, that is TD-SCDMA, almost certainly it won't be able to use 3G in India, it will be 2G EDGE or TD-LTE only, as well as having Chinese software on it of course.
