The obvious would be because of how they handled the Note 7 's issues and having the Note 7 issues to begin with. You'd think that the device would be better tested, but I guess with every manufacturer being so quick to get their product to market, Samsung cut a few corners in the process and now they're going to pay for it. I can't help wonder though, would Samsung be allowed to fall as hard if they were a U.S. based company? My guess is the U.S. government would invest resources in trying to find out where in the supply chain the issue needs to be addressed.
The reason I'm done with Samsung however is my Note 4 just received an update and at first I thought, "Finally I'm getting upgraded to the next Google O/S.". Not the case, I found out just a few days ago what the update entailed. I was driving with my phone mounted to my car mount in direct sunlight. It was a decent 70 degrees in the cabin (per the climate control) but the Note 4 threw out an error message stating that it noticed that it was running hot and thus some of the functions were being disabled. If the idiots at Samsung had their $@*% together, then my device wouldn't have been force-fed some nannified-bloatware. My guess is that a lot of phones are going to get this update, thanks a lot Samsung you've made your mark on the cell phone market.
