Don't want KitKat's Google+ Caller ID

Hello all, need some help here. Sprint recently pushed the KitKat upgrade to my phone. I have not installed it yet, I have a constant notification that states "Touch to install update." The reason I have not installed it yet is because I am trying to find out how I can turn off the Google+ Profile Pic Caller ID feature.

Everything I search on the web tells me how to keep MY profile picture from showing up on other people's phones. But I want to keep other people's profile pictures from showing up on my phone. Can't seem to do that.

I want my Caller ID to show the picture I choose, or nothing at all.

Is this possible?

When my wife calls me, it shows the picture that I've assigned to her contact and not the Google+ photo.

However, text messages through Hangouts are another story. If I merge an SMS/MMS conversation with a Hangouts conversation (which I have by default), it will use the Google+ photo. Using just about any other SMS/MMS app will use the designated contact photo instead.
