Doubling of Message Tones Using Handcent

HTC Hero, 2.1 firmware, Handcent.

I had Handcent installed even before the upgrade to 2.1 and when receiving an SMS message, there would be two notification tones. No problem at all on Email - just the one notification tone - but SMS seems to be the buggy object here.

After the 2.1 upgrade, I'm still getting two notifications on SMS messages. And the two notifications thing still occurs WITHOUT Handcent - its obviously because I have two different alerts set - one for email and a different one for SMS - and on receiving an SMS, BOTH tones play.

So - is there a way to set up the notifications so that one tone plays for SMS notifications only, and the other plays for Email notifications only?

im having this issue as well. and i did the disable notifications thingy. i think it has something to do with launcher pro. are you using that?

disable the notification sound on either Handcent or the stock messenger.
