Help downgrade to 2.1

I have a Samsung Intercept, and and app on the Market that has been getting a lot of crash reports. I'm suspecting that the culprit is 2.1 (about 20% of my downloaders), because this app was tested out on a bunch of devices running 2.2 with no errors. I can't get my hands on a device with 2.1 to check the error output though. There aren't any errors in the emulator for 2.1, but maybe their behavior is different.

So .... I'm trying somewhat frantically to find out how to downgrade my Samsung Intercept to 2.1. Google showed me some threads where people were pointed to the sticky here, but there's nothing in the sticky about this right now.

Plz to help?

Hey i have a samsung intercept for virgin mobile and i updated to 2.2 and it sucks horribly.. how do i go back to 2.1

Honestly, I'm on the same platform with VM, and it doesn't suck. Froyo is infact heads and shoulders above Eclair.

Downgrading would be a mistake. Your challenge is to figure out why your phone is operating so poorly with 2.2 when everyone else is experiencing great improvements in performance.

On low RAM memory conditions, any computer will labor.

1). Perhaps you should use the Task Manager application that comes with the 2.2 upgrade, select L2 and select Clear Memory.

2). Also - you can try shutting down the phone completely, and then rebooting it from time to time.

If you have a Task Killer or Launcher, uninstall them.

Use Settings | Applications | Manage Applications to move what you can to the SD card.

Use a download like Android Status to get a better handle as to what is killing your CPU and RAM memory. More than likely, if you do 1 and 2 above, you'll find your phone's performance MUCH better than when it ran Eclair.

I did everything that the post below suggested. I downloaded SWUpgrade and its patch, and the stock firmware, deleted the md5 extension so it ends in .tar, and even reinstalled the samsung usb driver for windows 32. Everything works fine until I get to the downloading window on the intercept and the "plug the cable into the phone and computer to detect the usb driver". At that point nothing happens, the downloading bar on the phone remains unchanged and the SWUpdate screen just shows blue arrows.

What else do I need to do to flash the stock ROM?
